Having just entered Canada from the U.S. without a work permit I would often work on projects for non-Canadian clients online. One of these was designing the entirety of the user interface and visuals for a mobile platforming game.

All assets had to be functional, cohesive and stand out somehow from competing titles. I started with a theme and a list of objects relating to that theme. With pencil and paper I started designing recognizable silhouettes for the characters.

I refined all of the concepts and designs into vector assets and zeroed in on a colour scheme. There was a lot of trial and error as I had to give directions for many layers of animation involving the environment, characters and user interface.

Unfortunately my client had to set aside the project before it was published, but I still have a working version on my phone.
